Females occupied more bed days in three of four diagnoses in this report. The only diagnosis in which males had more bed days was diagnosis code 414. The average lengths of stay (ALOS) are statistically equal p>.05 for male and female for this diagnosis. For the other three diagnoses, females not only occupied more bed days, but their ALOS were longer.
A t-test was performed on means for the other diagnosis codes (428, 486, and 427). They were all significantly different at the p<.01 level.
In the second report the top 4 diagnoses based on admissions were listed for male and female. Males dropped the diagnosis code 427 and picked up the diagnosis code 410. Females had the same diagnosis codes as listed in the first report.
